Local Communites
By Søren Hermansen
Samsø is a world-renowned island in the middle of the Kattegat, perhaps more famous abroad than at home. Why?
Søren Hermansen, a local islander, has a mission to make Samsø a place where community is the driving force in society. To enable a community to make decisions and transition to a more sustainable structure, the entire society and all citizens must be involved in some way.
This is a modern version of a "commons," where those living around it are also responsible for and active in its care. Sustainability is not just about eating less meat or becoming 100% plant-based but about making collective decisions for significant changes.
