2026

Hyllegaard Høje

In 2026 we hosted the festival at Hyllegård Høje, a sustainable community in Hvalsø, Denmark, where people are working to create a greener way of living.

We have supported Hyllegård Høje in developing nature-based initiatives across their land, connecting them with expert knowledge, partnerships, and hands-on support. We helped establish forest gardens, a nut savanna, regenerative kitchen garden and a biodiversity belt that benefit both the community and local wildlife - creating a positive trace on the land that will continue to grow long after the festival.

  • Planted over 2200 plants and trees and countless seeds

  • Transformed 11 hectares of land

  • Funded 200.000 DKK

  • Involved 700 people

  • Hosted over 67 educational and creative workshop

OUTCOME

Forest Garden

We have established a forest garden designed around permaculture principles. Paths have been created using woodchips, compost spread, and a variety of trees, shrubs, and ground cover planted.

We look forward to watching it flourish over time. Once a month, Hyllegaard Høje hosts community workdays in the garden, inviting everyone to join in nurturing this shared green space.

OUTCOME

  • Planted 10 trees, 30 bushes and 1700 groundcover plants

  • 5-600 m2

  • Provided a sustainable forest garden for Hyllegaard Høje that provides seasonal yields

  • The garden becomes a hub for learning and connecting, fostering community involvement

  • Improved natural soil restauration that is self-sustainable

Kitchen Garden

We helped establish a regenerative market garden designed to grow food in harmony with nature while restoring and enriching the land.

The project focused on building healthy soil, implementing sustainable planting techniques, and creating productive garden beds with diverse plant combinations. By applying regenerative gardening principles, we aimed to create a resilient growing space that supports biodiversity, strengthens soil health, and provides the foundation for long-term food production.

The garden will provide the community with vegetables for their communal dinners.

OUTCOME

  • Planted and sowed different plants and seeds

  • 300 m2

  • Provided a sustainable garden for Hyllegaard Høje that provides seasonal yields

Nut Savanna

We established Nut Savanna which is a diverse, nature-based growing area where nut trees grow alongside grasses and herbs in a resilient, low-maintenance landscape.

The project lays the foundation for a productive ecosystem that will provide nutritious food, support local wildlife, enhance biodiversity, and improve soil health over time. By involving the residents in its creation, we helped establish a space they can continue to care for and develop in the years to come, allowing both people and nature to benefit as the Nut Savanna grows and matures.

OUTCOME

  • Planted 74 trees planted

  • 5000 m2

Biodiversity Belt

We established a biodiversity belt to strengthen local ecosystems and connect the different nature and gardening projects across the land. The project involved planting a diverse mix of native trees and shrubs, creating varied habitats that provide food and shelter for wildlife while supporting pollinators and other beneficial species.

We also enhanced existing habitats by opening up parts of the forest edge to allow more light to reach the vegetation, building toad shelters from stones found on-site, and placing logs to create habitats for fungi, insects, amphibians, and small mammals.

As part of the project, we collected native seeds from nearby areas rich in biodiversity and sowed them across the land, helping reintroduce plant diversity and restore natural seed dispersal processes. Together, these initiatives laid the groundwork for a more connected, diverse, and resilient landscape that will continue to benefit both wildlife and the local community for years to come.

OUTCOME

  • 600 trees and scrubs planted

  • Countless seeds sown

  • 3500 m2

  • Moved logs and stones to create habitas
